OVO Hydro concert travel guide
OVO Hydro is on Glasgow’s Scottish Event Campus, beside the Clyde. Exhibition Centre is the campus station. Plan both the short local journey and your onward train: Glasgow Central and Queen Street are different stations.
This is a planning guide. Use the linked providers for current services and event-specific arrangements.

Which station and walking route should I use?
For the usual local rail journey, check trains from Glasgow Central Low Level to Exhibition Centre. At Exhibition Centre, reach street level using the stairs or lift, then follow the covered walkway to the SEC campus. Use the signs for OVO Hydro rather than the neighbouring SEC Centre or Armadillo.
Arriving at Queen Street? Plan the onward leg to Exhibition Centre separately. When comparing tickets, include transfers between Glasgow stations: an arrival at Central is not an arrival at Queen Street, even if your booking describes both as Glasgow.
The Clyde Walkway passes the SEC. If staying south of the river, compare routes using Bells Bridge, Millennium Bridge or the Clyde Arc rather than treating a nearby hotel across the water as a direct walk. Check the route against your access needs, and allow for weather and security screening.
Can I get home after the show?
Build the return backwards from your last onward connection. Include the time to leave your seat, collect any stored bag, reach Exhibition Centre and change stations if your booked train leaves Queen Street instead of Central.
Choose an alternative before you enter the arena: the published walking route, a journey planned with Traveline Scotland, or a pre-arranged taxi from the campus pick-up area. If your only workable option relies on an immediate exit and no queue, compare an overnight stay.
Check the SEC rail notices and ScotRail on the day. A timetable checked when buying concert tickets can change before the show. Door-opening times and estimated running times do not guarantee a last-train connection.
How do I plan a step-free arrival?
For lift access, the venue recommends Central rather than Argyle Street station. Exhibition Centre has a street-level lift; follow the covered walkway onwards. West accessible doors are nearest that walkway, while East accessible doors are nearer the multi-storey car park.
A lift to the concourse does not make every seat step-free: many seats on Levels 2 and 3 still require stairs. Arrange a suitable accessible position with the venue before booking, and check lift availability and rail assistance for the date you travel.
Tell the venue in advance about medical items, sensory needs or assistance requirements. Plan the return route with the same care as the arrival, including any lift-dependent interchange.
Where should I park or arrange a pick-up?
The main campus multi-storey is at 10 Stobcross Road, G3 8GS. For drop-off and collection, follow the designated area behind the SEC Centre, reached from Stobcross Road; do not assume Congress Road in front of the Hydro will be open.
Agree the exact meeting place with your driver before the show. Add the walk from your exit to that area, and collection of any stored luggage, to your pick-up plan. For accessible transfers, check the campus shuttle arrangements with the venue.
Can I bring a backpack or overnight luggage?
A small handbag is permitted, but backpacks, rucksacks and suitcases are not. The venue excludes large handbags at A3 size (30 × 42cm) and above; do not read this as permission to bring any backpack that fits those dimensions.
The SEC Centre cloakroom can take larger bags for a charge. Check current arrangements before relying on it, and allow time to collect your bag before your last train. Ask your accommodation about luggage storage if you arrive before check-in.
Have your live mobile ticket available: the Hydro says ticket screenshots are not accepted. Contact the venue before travelling if you need to bring medical items.
Stay near the Hydro or near a Glasgow station?
Near the SEC campus: useful if your priority is a short final journey after the show. Check the actual route between the hotel and your arena exit; being close on a map does not establish a suitable walking route.
Near Central: worth comparing if your train arrives or leaves there and you want to leave bags before the gig. Near Queen Street: compare this if your booked onward train uses that station. Either choice still needs a late-evening route back from the campus.
For an early departure, compare the whole trip rather than the room price alone: late transport, breakfast and luggage collection can change which base is easiest. Confirm late check-in if you will go directly to the concert.
