Metro, train or bus?
For the Metro, use Gateshead. If you have a performance ticket, the venue says travel to and from that station is free for two hours before and two hours after the concert, including the Shields Ferry. Show the ticket.
The nearest railway station is Newcastle Central. The venue has a short film of the step-free route from there, and another from Gateshead Interchange. Local buses are on the Go North East site. The building is at the top of a hill above the Tyne.
Plan the journey home before the show
The free Metro window is two hours after the concert, not an open-ended ticket. Check the Metro time you will actually make, including the walk down to Gateshead station.
If you are using a train from Newcastle Central, include the journey back across the river. A concert ticket does not reserve a seat on that train.
Check the whole accessible route
Both entrances are step-free with wheelchair-accessible doors: one on the Tyne Bridge side, beside a ramped pavement up from Shore Road, and one facing the Millennium Bridge, which has steps up from Baltic Square. The building itself is step-free, including the box office, toilets, halls, café, restaurant and bars. Accessible toilets are on every floor. One on the first floor, Millennium Bridge side, has a hoist, changing table and shower.
Blue Badge parking is free for any length of stay. Scan the badge at the machines on the ground floor and on level 1. The car park is behind the building, with a lift from street level. The taxi drop-off is the turning circle by the Tyne Bridge entrance. Join the free access scheme for personal-assistant tickets. You can arrange an early visit or early seating by calling 0191 443 4661.
Driving, parking and pick-up
The car park is directly behind the building and has a lift from street level. Blue Badge bays next to the entrances, and in the main car park, are free when you scan the badge.
The taxi drop-off is the turning circle at the Tyne Bridge entrance. Agree a pick-up there rather than on the hill if you are being collected.
Bags and entry checks
The venue says it restricts bag size and does not publish the measurement on its access page. Check the event, or ask the box office, before you travel with luggage.
Medicines, food and drink for a medical condition are welcome. If you need an extra bag or medical equipment, contact the venue ahead and they will make a plan. Email accessibility@theglasshouseicm.org or call 0191 443 4661.
Where should I base an overnight stay?
Compare a stay on the Gateshead quays with one near Newcastle Central if your morning train leaves from there. The Metro ride with a concert ticket is free only inside the two-hour window.
On your CatchWorm event page, Venue & stays lets you explore nearby accommodation. Check late check-in and the walk up the hill.
